GOLF FEST A BIG HIT IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY |
Maui Lani, Isle of Maui – (September 11, 2004)
– The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course held
its second annual Golf Fest on September 11, 2004.
Billed as a community event, several thousand local
residents, including not only golfers, but families
as well, descended on The Dunes to try the latest
golf equipment, hear live entertainment, play games,
participate in contests, enjoy fun attractions,
participate in a silent auction, and so much more.
The event is the brainchild of consultant Kelly
Fliear. Its purpose was to give something back
to community and to utilize The Dunes expansive
Central Maui grounds for the benefit of local
residents and visitors. “We just want people
to have a good time out here,” Kelly said.
Leona Andrin coordinated the entire 2004 event,
and deserves a big hand for making the Golf Fest
such a great success, both for the community,
as well as some special causes.
“Our Golf Fest generated a net income of
$2,912 (before trade expenditures),” said
Dunes controller Kristi Nouchi. “Proceeds
will be presented to the Maui Humane Society in
the amount of $529, the giving tree ~ $324, and
the Dunes Jr. Golf program ~ $1169 ($590 from
auction of surf board, $50 from donation from
Bobbie Cox, & $529 from contests & games).
Overall, the Golf Fest was a huge success,”
she added.
