Is the course very windy?

The Dunes is situated in a very windy part of the island, but it is unique in that the dunes themselves provide natural cover and actually protect the golfer from Central Maui’s strong trade winds.

Is the course near the ocean?

A million years ago, it would’ve been under water! As the island evolved, the tides receded and left sandy dunes, which were later shaped by the winds. The shore is now only a couple of miles away in either direction, and can be seen from atop the higher dunes. The course does, however, have water in the form of two large ponds, which come into play on Holes No. 1, No. 5, No. 6, and No. 18.

Are there nice views?

Yes! The Dunes has beautiful views of the West Maui mountains, the ocean, and Mount Haleakala.
